The inReach satellite device is a reliable cost effective solution for remote work. With inReach satellite technology from Garmin and a satellite subscription, you can stay in touch globally.
You can send and receive messages, navigate your route, track and share your journey and, mark way points, and if necessary, trigger an SOS to get emergency help from the Guardian Angel 24/7 monitoring center via the 100% global Iridium® satellite network.
The signals from the inReach products are integrated via API to our Guardian Angel monitoring centre in NZ. That means when the SOS hits the servers in USA, it also hits our response software at the same time! No lag or reliance on SMS or Emails for alerts.
Garmin has a range of inReach products which can be supplied and monitored by Guardian Angel; inReach SE, inReach Explorer, inReach Mini.
The inReach SE and Explorer can be utilised on two different platforms;
Garmin Enterprise - Devices can be managed in groups and messages can be sent from the platform to groups, or individual devices. Devices can be tracked and located and there is basic reporting functionality.
Tracertrak by Pivotel – the Tracertrak platform was developed to further enhance the safety of Lone Workers by enabling automated check ins. The check in schedules can be modified to suit the risk level of the work. The Lone Worker checks in on his device at the scheduled time. The check ins are managed on the Tracertrak platform via exception, so if a check in is not received, the Guardian Angel Monitoring station is sent an alert from the Tracertrak Server which triggers our response procedure. You can also group message and manage all your inReach devices on this platform. The Mini cannot run on this platform.
The inReach devices can not communicate if they are inside a building. They must see the sky. We have carried out extensive testing in the forestry environment and it largely performs reliably, unless the foliage is particularly dense with no gaps in the canopy at all. We recommend our Lone Workers mount them in the available windshield mount for when they are driving so that the device can be tracked by the satellites through the windscreen.
The inReach does not have automated functions such as man down or no movement. It relies on the Lone Worker to manually trigger the SOS.
